Full list of Banned Items In Nigeria

There are at least 25 items that have been banned from being imported into Nigeria. The list, circulated by the Finance Ministry on Friday, includes soaps, spaghetti and used fridges.
The ban on the items was put in place by the government in 2016, as part of yearly efforts to control import, but is still in place as no new one has been provided for 2017
IMPORT PROHIBITION LIST (TRADE)
1. Live or Dead Birds including Frozen Poultry
2. Pork, Beef,
3. Bird Eggs H.S; excluding hatching eggs
4. Refined vegetable oil .but excluding refined linseed, castor and olive oil. Crude vegetable oil are however NOT banned from importation.
5. Cane or beet sugar and chemically pure sucrose, in solid form containing added flavouring or colouring matter in retail packs
6. Cocoa butter, Powder and cakes
7. Spaghetti/Noodles
8. Fruit Juice in retail Packs
9. Waters, including mineral waters and aerated Waters, containing added sugar or sweetening matter or flavoured, ice snow other non-alcoholic beverages.(but excluding energy or health drinks – liquid dietary supplements e.g. Power Horse, Red Ginseng, etc)  and Beer and stout (Bottled, Canned or otherwise packed)  .

11. Medicament falling under Headings 3003 & 3004 such as:
a) Paracetamol tablets Syrups
b) Cotrimozazole tablets and Syrups
c) Metronidazole tablets and Syrups
d) Chloroquine tablets and Syrups
e) Haematinic formulations:
(i) Ferrous sulphate and ferrous gluconate tablets
(ii) Folic acid tablets
(iii) Vitamin B Complex tablets (except modified release formulations).
f) Multivitamin tablets, capsules and syrups (except special formulations)
g) Aspirin tablets (except modified release formulations and soluble aspirin)
h) Magnesium trisilicate tablets and suspensions
i) Piperazine tablets and syrups
j) Levamisole tablets and syrups
k) Ointments penicillin/gentamycin
l) Pyrantel pamoate tablets and syrups
m) Intravenous Fluids (Dextrose, Normal Saline etc)
12. Waste pharmaceuticals
13. Soaps and Detergents in retail packs
14. Mosquito repellant Coil(mosquito coils)
15. Sanitary Wares of Plastics and Domestic Articles and Wares of Plastic but excluding Baby Feeding Bottles and (flushing cistern and waterless toos toilets).
16. Rethreaded and used Pneumatics tyres but excluding used trucks tyres for rethreading of size 11.00 x 20 and above
17. Corrugated paper and Paper boards and Cartons, boxes and cases made from Corrugated paper and Paper boards  Toilet paper, Cleansing or facial tissue  excluding baby diapers and incotinent pads for adult use  and Exercise Books
18. Telephone Recharge Cards and Vouchers
19. Carpets and other textile floor coverings falling under
20. All types of footwears, bags and suitcases,  but excluding safety shoes used in oil industries, sports shoes, canvass shoes and all Completely Knocked Down (CKD), blanks and parts.
21. Hollow glass bottles of a capacity exceeding 150 mls (0.15 litres) of all kinds used for packaging beverages by Breweries and other beverages and drinks company
22. Used compressors Used Air Conditioners and used Fridges/Freezers
23. Used motor vehicles above 15 years from the Year of manufacture
24. Furniture  but excluding Baby walkers, laboratory cabinets such as microscope table, fume cupboards, laboratory benches (9403), stadium chairs, height adjustment device, base sledge, seat frames and control mechanism, arm guide and head guides. Also excluded are; skeletal parts of furniture such as blanks, upholstered or unfinished part of metal, plastics, veneer, chair shell etc.
25. Ball point pen and parts including refills (excluding tip)

OTUN EKITI

Otun Ekiti is the Headquarter of Moba Local Government Area in Ekiti State. It is located to the North of Ekiti State. It is a nodal town which shares boundary with Kwara State to the North and Osun State to the West. OGUN STATE GETS NEW POLYTECHNIC

The National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, has granted full approval for the take-off of academic programmes in 18 accredited courses at the newly established Ogun State Polytechnic, Ipokia. The Ogun State Government, which disclosed this on Tuesday, said the approval is with immediate effect. Governor Ibikunle Amosun had in September laid the foundation stone for institution, which at the time he said would commence operations in November The Secretary to State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, in a statement, also disclosed that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has enlisted the institution on its portal for prospective students of the school to register for the 2017/2018 academic session.
